How to take a screenshot of selected area ?

You can do this by pressing together three keys - SHIFT + CMD + 4 , the pointer will change to a crosshair, then move your crosshair to the starting point of your selection, then press your left mouse button and move crosshair to the ending point of your selection. When you release mouse button will take a screenshot ( you can cancel it by pressing ESC ), which you can find on your desktop. 

How to take a screenshot of window or menu ?

Press together three keys - SHIFT + CMD + 4 the pointer will change to a crosshair, then press SPACE BAR the crosshair will change to a camera. Then move the camera to selected window, or menu you like to take a screenshot. It will highlight it, then press a left mouse button to take a screenshot of highlighted window ( you can cancel it by pressing ESC ). The screenshot you can find on your desktop.
